Had enough of the Presidential race yet?
Do you feel doomed because El Chupa Cabra (Donald Trump) is in the lead and crushing any opportunity for your candidate to move up in the polls?
Have you had to sever all ties with former friends because they betrayed the “only liberty” candidate in the race and chose someone else?
Do you rush into internet combat at the first sign of anyone talking criticizing your candidate? I’m sure you will be so proud to tell your kids about the great internet wars of 2015-2016.
Are you a slappy for your candidate and refuse to acknowledge it?
If you suffer from any of these ailments I have a cure for you. A little reality check if you will. Are you ready for it? Well here it is…..no matter who wins the Presidential race in 2016 they will NOT save you.
Really they wont, so why put all of your hopes in him? He is just a man after all. A president cant do much at all unless you want to give him the powers of a king and we already have one of those now don’t we? DO we need another one?
You see I think a lot of us have forgotten that we are a Constitutional Republic. Meaning we elect leaders to represent us and that means at ALL levels, not just national races. To take a page from #blacklivesmatter, #ALLELECTIONSMATTER not just the highly publicized ones.
The thing is if you begin to believe that #allelectionsmatter then you can change the face of your community. You work to elect leaders that represent you, not the establishment. Is it easy? No, but isn’t it worth it in the long run?
Most people elected to office go on to other elected offices. If we concentrated locally, and continued to elect good, principled people to office, how would our communities and state houses look? Imagine a school board that pushes back on goofy grading systems like Standards Based Grading, pushes back on Common Core, and lowers taxes. A City Council that turns down HUD funds and lowers taxes.
What if they did it out of principle just naturally. Think of the freedom that would give everyone? Imagine a statehouse that stands for life, small government, and lower taxes. I know we live in Iowa it is hard to see our statehouse stand for anything except King Corn, but just try for me OK.
Now let me give you an example. In Ankeny last year we tried to get a Libertarian leaning Republican on the School Board. Now we had 50,000 citizens at the time. If ¼ are registered voters that is 12,500 voters on election day. It is probably more, but just use this for the example.
Guess how many people voted in this school board election?
Only 1,700 people took the time to care about their school board in Ankeny. Just 1,700 people. I wanted to scream, and you should too. Especially when you find out that the teachers union endorsed the other candidate in the race. He did not have the qualities we needed on the school board. However, when there are 900 teachers in the district maybe more you are are behind even before you start. It doesn’t feel that great to have the union picking the school board for you. It just helps the union, and progressives set the agenda That isn’t helping anyone least of all the students.
It will always be easier to call/contact your city council, school board member, Iowa House Representative and Iowa Senator. So much easier than trying to get the President on the line. So don’t you think as a person that loves this country you should make an effort to get involved locally?
So here’s my plan, let’s grow Liberty Iowa’s influence on our local, state AND federal government. We are starting by hosting a month long activism program we are calling the “Fall Into Freedom” campaign. There will be activism and community volunteering opportunities every week in the month of October for you to participate in all across the state of Iowa. So sign up today!
I would much rather work hard now locally and not put my faith in a President, Senator or Congressman. As of late it seems like they are more likely to sell you out than help you win.
